A finales del siglo xix se recuperaron algunos fragmentos de la portada de la madrasa construida por el sultán nazarí Yūsuf I, inaugurada en 1349. Rafael Contreras hizo una restitución hipotética de la portada bajo el prisma romántico de la época. En la actualidad hemos estudiado las influencias directas de la arquitectura meriní en la nazarí, sobre todo en esta institución oriental que llegó a al-Andalus a través de al-Magrib, y nuestra visión ha cambiado.

At the end of the 19th century, some fragments of the façade of the madrasa built by the Nasrid Sultan Yūsuf I, and inaugurated in 1349, were recovered. Rafael Contreras made a hypothetical restitution of the façade under the romantic prism of the time. At present we have studied the direct influences of the Meriní architecture in the Nasrid, especially in this oriental institution that came to al-Andalus through al-Magrib, and our vision has changed.
