Resumen de Ritualidad y representación antropomorfa en el Japón Neolítico: sobre las figuras dogū del período Jōmon

Este artículo tiene como objetivo ofrecer al lector un análisis de las figuras antropomorfas conocidas como dogū, que fueron elaboradas durante el período Jō-mon de la Prehistoria japonesa. Para ello, en primer lugar, será necesario esclarecer sus orígenes y evolución a partir del conocimiento arqueológico acumulado hasta la actualidad, que pondrá de relieve un proceso gradual de complejización tipológica, desde formas primarías hasta un intento de trascender la representación del cuerpo humano. Al mismo tiempo, también se deberá prestar atención a su diversidad sincrónica, marcada por diferentes tipos con una mayor o menor presencia en el marco espacial del archipiélago. Esta labor permitirá no sólo delimitar las diferentes etapas protagonizadas por estas figuras, sino también esclarecer su posible significado y uso. Ello nos conducirá finalmente a un replanteamiento sobre la propia existencia de los dogū como categoría arqueológica.

This article aims to analyze the anthropomorphic figures known as dogū made during the Jōmon period of Japanese Prehistory. First, it will be necessary to clarify its origin and evolution from the archaeological knowledge accumulated to the present day, highlighting a gradual process of typological complexity, from primary forms to an attempt to transcend the representation of the human body. At the same ime, we will pay attention to their synchronic diversity, marked by different types with a greater or lesser presence in the spatial framework of the archipelago. This work will delimit the different stages carried out by these figures and clarify their possible meaning and use, and, finally, it will lead us to a rethinking of the very existence of the dogū as an archaeological category.
