En este trabajo vamos a estudiar de forma breve varios aspectos: en primer lugar, el origen, la funcionalidad y la problemática arqueológica de los sonajeros en la antigüedad, ilustrado a través de varios ejemplos de espacios geográficos dispares. En segundo lugar, veremos cómo el término sonajero ha ido cambiando a lo largo de la antigüedad y como su funcionalidad no siempre fue la de entretener a los más pequeños, siendo algo mucho más trascendental y religioso. Por último, en relación a la problemática arqueológica, haremos hincapié en los escasos estudios realizados sobre estos artefactos abriendo interesantes líneas de trabajo futuras sobre cómo veían nuestros antepasados el mundo de la infancia.

In this work, different aspects are going to be studied briefly: On the one hand, the origin, its functionality and the archaeological problem of rattles in the Antiquity going through several examples of unfocussed geographical spaces. On the other hand, we are going to see how the term rattle has been changing throughout the Antiquity and how its functionality was not always used to entertain the babies. It became something much more significant and religious. Finally, in relation to the archeological problem, we are going to emphasize in the lack of studies found about these kind of ítems, which open interesting lines of work of how our ancestors saw the world of childhood.
