Resumen de Machismo y ginecocracia: la familia mexicana y latinoamericana como forma mixta

A partir de las investigaciones antropológicas y culturales llevadas a cabo por Claudio Esteva Fabregat, este artículo se propone demostrar el carácter mixto de la familia latinoamericana: machista aunque no patriarcal, ya que el padre carece de autoridad, y con algunos rasgos matriarcales importantes para la representación del poder. Se demuestra que tanto en el caso de la figura masculina como en el de la femenina, los prototipos de conducta son de origen español, no indios ni mestizos; lo que no impide una competencia acérrima y, con frecuencia, de sesgo racial por la legitimidad, los bienes materiales y el prestigio.

Starting from investigations of cultural anthropology carried out in the past by Claudio Esteva Fabregat, this article proposes to demonstrate the mixed character of the Latin American family: male chauvinist although not patriarchal, since the father lacks authority, and it’s possible to find some matriarchal, important features in the power representation. It demonstrates that in the case of the masculine figure as in the feminine one, the behavior prototypes have a Spanish origin, not Indian or mestizo; which doesn’t prevent a staunch competition and, frequently, of racial slant for the legitimacy, the material goods and the prestige.
