Colombia
The characterization and geochemical classification of the vulcanites present at the Providencia Island in the Colombian Caribbean are presented in this summary. The volcanic rocks croping out in Providencia indicate mainly a sub-alkaline character; some of them show an alkaline trend series. The subalkalines present two well defined trends, one rich in K and the other "normal". These rocks were classified as aluminic basalts (high AI), potassium aluminic basalts, shoshonitic basalts, potasic basaltic andesites, andesites, dacites, potassic dacites and rhyolites.
