Este artículo aborda Diario (1983), de David Perlov, como un hito patente en el itinerario latinoamericano que representa la preeminencia del documental como ensayo de las últimas décadas. Reflexiona sobre la dialéctica subjetiva entre el cineasta y las realidades proyectadas, planteando algunas cuestiones acerca del vínculo del ensayista consigo mismo y con su entorno y cómo asume el cineasta los distanciamientos.

This article discusses Diary (1983) by David Perlov, as it being a clear milestone in a Latin American itinerary which in recent decades, represents a pre-eminence of the documentary essay. It reflects upon the relation of distance and proximity between the act of seeing and the image it relates to, raising questions about the connection of the essayist with himself and his environment and how the filmmaker deals with this distancing.
