Resumen de Paul Stocker: una figura ecléctica del jazz en España

Atendiendo al punto de partida que supone indagar en parte de la historia del jazz de la segunda mitad del siglo XX en occidente y más concretamente en el desarrollo del jazz en Europa y España, en este artículo se plantea investigar en torno a la interesante actividad musical del saxofonista norteamericano Paul Stocker. Tres líneas guiarán la información aquí planteada: aspectos biográficos, experiencia docente y su estética musical; argumentos que nos servirán para retratar a un personaje fundamental para entender el desarrollo del jazz en Europa a partir de los años setenta del pasado siglo, además de indagar en la trayectoria de un testigo directo de la evolución del jazz en España.

According to the starting point involved in the researching part of the history of jazz in the second half of the 20th century in the West, and more specifically in the development of jazz in Europe and Spain, this article is intended to investigate around the interesting musical activity of the Northamerican saxophonist Paul Stocker. Three lines will guide the information raised here: biographical aspects, teaching experience and his musical aesthetics, arguments that will serve us to portray a character essential to understand the development of jazz in Europe since the seventies in the last century, in addition to inquire into the path of a direct witness of the evolution of jazz in Spain.
