MPLS (Multiprotocol Label Switching) provides interesting mechanisms to integrate network technologies like ATM (Asynchronous Transfer Mode) and IP (Internet Protocol) with QoS (Quality of Service). It is a next generation technology with a great interest in teaching of networks and communications in Telematics Engineering degrees. In this paper we show a simulator as an innovative and educational tool to introduce the student to MPLS. It motivates the student to configure, interact and analyse the operation of an MPLS domain in an easy and efficient way. On the other hand, due to its free software license, it can be used as a framework for protocol engineering
