  • Resumen
    • The article analyses aspect categories of derivation type and the difference in the degree of their grammaticalization in Slavic and non-Slavic languages, as well as respective terms, namely: limit, telicity, totality, and perfectivation. It is shown here that the meaning of the given terms, usually interpreted as universal, depends to a large extent on the properties of the aspectual system of a particular language. The necessity to distinguish lexical and grammatical telicity in terminology is explained in the present article. Based on the selected language material it is shown that having a single conceptual base of Slavic aspect, Russian, Czech and Slovenian differ to some extent in the categorical semantics of perfective aspect. The analyses of some fundamental studies by Russian typologists reveals that perfectivity in Georgian, Baltic and a number of other languages with aspectual systems of “Slavic style” differs from Slavic perfectivity. It does not exclude, as in the case of Slavic languages, the expression of a processual action by perfective verbs, and their collocation with phase verbs.
