    El artículo analiza la vida del maestro de esgrima Luis Pacheco de Narváez, más conocido por sus disputas con el gran escritor Francisco de Quevedo que por su aportación al arte de la esgrima o, como él lo llamaba, la destreza de las armas. Pacheco escribió numerosos tratados sobre la esgrima, llegando a ser una autoridad en la materia, aunque respetado por unos y atacado por otros; un aspecto igualmente importante de su obra es que su extensa producción literaria permite obtener una imagen fidedigna de la sociedad de la época, en pleno Siglo de Oro español

    This article analyses the life of the master of fencing Luis Pacheco de Narváez, better known for his enmity with the great writer Francisco de Quevedo tan for his contribution to the art of fencing, or, as he called it, the skill of arms. Pacheco wrote numerous treaties about fencing, becoming and authority in the field, through respected by some and attacked by others; another aspecto of his work, equally important, is that his extensive literary production provides us with a reliable picture of the society of his times, in the middle of the Spanish Golden Age
