Resumen de Geografizar La tierra pródiga

El propósito principal del presente texto es retomar, desde la obra literaria La tierra pródiga de Agustín Yáñez, un espacio geográfico que tiene su existencia real en el estado de Jalisco y dentro de una de las regiones donde se inserta el discurso del progreso documentado a través del proceso de electrificación, la construcción de carreteras y la incorporación de infraestructura diversa en el lugar, entre los años de 1960 y 1990. Mediante la interrelación de documentos consultados, como la cartografía de CETENAL (1974-1976), informes gubernamentales, bibliografía y hemerografía especializada, así como la realización de recorridos de campo, observación participante y entrevistas a los lugareños con la intención de realizar lecturas de paisajes, se plantearon los objetivos del trabajo: ampliar el conocimiento de la zona y motivar el interés del público especializado por conocerla mejor y seguir estudiándola. Así, se busca interactuar con lo que el autor literario especificaba como una zona en constante conflicto, relacionando los significados de sus recursos naturales y la poca intervención pública. En ese sentido, “geografizar” aquí se entiende como la utilización de los elementos que la novela nos brinda a través de un lenguaje geográfico, donde los lugares a los que hace referencia cobran relevancia y son reconocidos como territorios “reales” a través de un sustento con elementos de valoración literaria.

The main purpose of this text is to revisit, from the literary work La tierra pródiga by Agustín Yáñez, a geographical space that has its “real” existence in the state of Jalisco and within one of the regions where the discourse of progress is inserted and documented through the process of electrification, the construction of highways, and the incorporation of diverse infrastructure in the place, between 1960 and 1990. Through the interrelation of the referred documents, such as CETENAL's cartography (1974-1976), governmental reports, bibliography, and specialized hemerography, as well as the realization of field tours, participant observation, and interviews with the locals to make landscape readings, the objectives of the work were established: to expand the knowledge of the area and motivate the interest of the specialized public to know it better and to continue studying it. Thus, we seek to interact with what the literary author specified as an area in constant conflict, relating the meanings of its natural resources and the little public intervention. In this sense, “geographizing” here is understood as the use of the elements that the novel offers us through a geographical language, where the places to which it refers become relevant and are recognized as “real” territories through sustenance with elements of literary valuation.
