La actividad investigativa se encuentra inserta en las dinámicas del campo intelectual universitario de cada país, y es un requerimiento comúnmente señalado en los informes de evaluación y acreditación de dichas instituciones. En el contexto de las disputas de diversa índole que ocurren dentro del campo, el trabajo con líneas de investigación y la conformación de grupos de investigación son elementos que podrían aportar a la democratización de esta actividad y al desarrollo de una actitud dialógica entre los diversos actores; ellas contribuirían, asimismo, a promover el crecimiento de las propias instituciones universitarias y a la generación de un pensamiento liberador.

The research activity is embedded in the dynamics of the intellectual field of the universities in each country, and this is a requirement commonly underlined in the reports of evaluation and accreditation of such institutions. In the context of disputes of various kinds that occur within the field, working with research lines and the formation of research groups are elements that could contribute to the democratization of this activity and develop an attitude of dialogue between the various actors; they contribute also to promote the growth of the institutions of higher education and the generation of liberating thought.
