Garantía de seguridad clínica en la identificación correcta de pacientes

    La identificación inadecuada de los pacientes es una causa importante de los problemas y complicaciones asociados a errores en la práctica sanitaria. Los problemas de identificación se asocian con frecuencia a complicaciones producidas por errores en la administración de medicamentos, transfusiones, pruebas diagnosticas, etc. Existen datos estadísticos que nos indican que una correcta identificación del paciente conlleva a una disminución notable de los errores en la praxis sanitaria.

    Existen, por tanto, razones de peso para asumir que la identificación adecuada de los pacientes en los centros sanitarios, es un desafío que se debe asumir y superar de la forma más satisfactoria posible.

    En la Unidad Clínica de Urgencias del Área Sanitaria Norte de Málaga se propuso un análisis sobre el protocolo de Recepción, Acogida y Clasificación de pacientes con el objetivo de valorar el grado de seguridad que se les ofertaba a los mismos. Para ello, se realizó un muestreo aleatorio sin reemplazo, entre los profesionales de enfermería que realizan el proceso de recepción, acogida y clasificación de pacientes en la unidad.

    Entre los resultados podemos destacar que la seguridad del paciente, está garantizada por una praxis sanitaria correcta, que un alto porcentaje de los profesionales realizan su trabajo según el protocolo de la unidad y que la mayoría están satisfechos con el sistema actual. Pese a ello, existen dificultades técnicas que requieren de nuestra atención para evitar errores que puedan afectar a la seguridad de los pacientes.

    Como conclusión podemos decir que es necesaria una importante labor de educación sanitaria a los pacientes para que respeten las normas de identificación, así como informar a los profesionales sanitarios de la necesidad de realizar registros escritos de nuestra actividad (identificación de alergias). Igualmente, nuestra unidad analiza la posibilidad de estudiar una posible alternativa a la pegatina con datos de filiación por un diseño tipo pulsera, con el objetivo de que los pacientes no se los retiren.

    The inadequate identification of the patients is an important reason of the problems and complications associated with mistakes in the sanitary assistance. The problems of identification associate often to complications produced by mistakes in the administration of medicines, transfusions, tests you diagnose, etc.

    There exists statistical information that indicate us that a correct identification of the patient carries to a notable decrease of the mistakes in the sanitary practice.

    Reasons of weight exist, therefore, to assume that the suitable identification of the patients in the sanitary centers, is a challenge that must take up office and overcome of the as satisfactory as possible form.

    In the Clinical Unit of Urgencies of the Sanitary Area North of Malaga, one proposed an analysis on the protocol of Receipt, Reception and patients' Classification, with the aim(lens) to value the safety degree that was offered them to the patients, for it, I realize a random sampling without replacement, between the nursing professional´s who fulfil the triaje in the unit.

    Between the results we can emphasize that the security of the patient, this guaranteed by a sanitary correct practice, that a high percentage of the professionals realize them work according to the protocol of the unit and that they are satisfied the majority by the current system. In spite of it, there exist technical difficulties that they need of our attention to avoid mistakes that could concern the security of the patients.

    Since conclusion we can say, that there is necessary an important labor of sanitary education to the patients in order that they respect the procedure of identification, as well as inform the sanitary professionals of the need to realize written records of our activity (identification of allergies). Equally, our unit analyzes the possibility of studying a possible alternative to the sticker with information of filiation for a design type bracelet, with the aim that the patients do not withdraw them from him.
