    Se ha diseñado una base de datos mediante un Sistema de Información Geográfica (SIG) para la gestión del Geoparque Montañas do Courel, incluyendo su patrimonio natural y cultural. El SIG comprende 64 capas vectoriales y matriciales con información técnica y científica, que ha sido homogeneizada, sintetizada y revisada. Las capas se pueden combinar para confeccionar nuevos recursos educativos y turísticos y para llevar a cabo análisis y mapas técnicos de apoyo a la investigación, diseño de actividades e infraestructuras y geoconservación del Geoparque. Todo ello evidencia la utilidad de los SIG como herramienta de apoyo a gestión integral del patrimonio geológico de los Geoparquesy su relación con la biodiversidad y patrimonio cultural

    A database has been constructed using a Geographic Information System (GIS) for the management of the CourelMountains Geopark, including its natural and cultural heritage. The GIS comprises 64 vector and matrix coverageswith technical and scientific information, which has been standardized, synthesized and reviewed. The coveragescan be combined to elaborate new educational and tourist resources, as well as to develop technical analyses andmaps to advice on scientific research, design of activities and facilities, and geoconservation of the Geopark. All thisevidence the utility of the GIS as a support tool for the integral management of the geoheritage of the Geoparks andits relation with the biodiversity and cultural heritage
