Resumen de Boutique hotels as a form of active recovery of the historical-cultural heritage in Palma de Mallorca, Spain

  La recuperación del patrimonio histórico es una de las prioridades tanto de los sectores públicos como privados, ya que es un ejercicio imprescindible en la promoción y desarrollo del turismo cultural en las ciudades.

  Así, el uso de edificios tanto catalogados como declarados Bien de Interés Cultural se ha generalizado en la creación de hoteles boutique, como forma de diferenciación de la oferta hotelera ante la estandarización de la misma.

  En el caso de Palma de Mallorca, hemos asistido a rápido crecimiento de este tipo de alojamientos que han reactivado la economía de ciertas áreas del centro, ampliamente degradadas con anterioridad, contribuyendo de forma sustancial a su recuperación no solo con vistas al turismo cultural sino también a la población residente.

  El análisis descriptivo y documental realizado nos permite conocer el alcance del fenómeno del aprovechamiento del patrimonio y reutilización del mismo por parte de este tipo de establecimientos.

  Este aprovechamiento del patrimonio existente repercute directamente en su puesta en valor, tanto por la recuperación del espacio identitario por parte de los residentes, como de la mejor experiencia por parte de los visitantes, apoyando ambas de una forma muy acusada la utilización de estos espacios y sus cambios de uso, promoviendo así la reutilización y como consecuencia la sostenibilidad en las áreas centrales de los espacios turísticos.

  The recovery of the historical heritage is one of the priorities of both the public and private sectors, as it is an essential exercise in the promotion and development of cultural tourism in cities.

  Thus, the use of both catalogued and declared buildings of cultural interest has become widespread in the creation of boutique hotels, as a way of differentiating the hotel offer in the face of standardisation.

  In the case of Palma de Mallorca, we have witnessed a rapid growth of this type of accommodation which has revived the economy of certain areas of the centre, which were previously largely degraded, contributing substantially to its recovery not only for cultural tourism but also for the resident population.

  The descriptive and documentary analysis carried out allows us to understand the extent of the phenomenon of heritage use and reuse by this type of establishment.

  This utilization of the existing heritage has direct repercussions on its appreciation, both in terms of the recovery of the space of identity by the residents, and in terms of the better experience of the visitors, both of which support in a very marked way the use of these spaces and their changes of use, thus promoting reuse and as a consequence sustainability in the central areas of the tourist spaces.
