  INTRODUCCIÓN. El acceso a la electricidad influye significativamente en muchos aspectos de la sociedad y se reconoce su importancia en la vida cotidiana. OBJETIVO. Analizar la literatura sobre el acceso a la electricidad en zonas rurales, su impacto en el desarrollo social, medio ambiente y economía. MÉTODO. La investigación se desarrolló mediante una revisión bibliográfica y se clasificó los aspectos que influyen en el desarrollo de la electrificación rural. RESULTADOS. Se caracterizó las variables que definen el estudio de la electrificación en zonas rurales y se determinó que se debe tener un enfoque integral en la implementación de los programas de electrificación para lograr la sostenibilidad. DISCUSIÓN Y CONCLUSIONES. Se confirma que la electrificación y el desarrollo de las comunidades rurales presentan relaciones complejas y es necesario continuar con el análisis de las diferentes dimensiones de la electrificación.

  INTRODUCTION. Access to electricity significantly influences many aspects of society and its importance in everyday life is recognized. OBJECTIVE. Analyze the literature on access to electricity in rural areas, its impact on social development, the environment and the economy. METHOD. The research was developed through a bibliographic review and the aspects that influence the development of rural electrification were classified. RESULTS. The variables that define the study of electrification in rural areas were characterized and it was determined that a comprehensive approach must be taken in the implementation of electrification programs to achieve sustainability. DISCUSSION AND CONCLUSIONS. It is confirmed that electrification and the development of rural communities show complex relationships and it is necessary to continue with the analysis of the different dimensions of electrification.
