    The use of case studies and the approach to socioscientific issues (SSI) in the teaching of ecology are of fundamental importance for the promotion of an effective science education. The objective of this work was to analyze the potentialities of using a case study to approach a SocioScientific Question in the teaching and learning process of Ecology, in a class of the 6th grade of elementary school in the municipal network of Lagarto, SE. The case addressed dealt with the use of pesticides, so that students in the class where the activity was developed could express their previous knowledge and their interpretations of the narration, in addition to identifying the main consequences of using chemicals in the fields. and possible solutions to the problem. In general, students showed interest in the subject and reported events in their daily lives, since most of them live in rural areas. In addition,it was observed that the use of case studies can also help in the formation of critical and reflective citizens, capable of making conscious decisions, whether of a personal or collective nature

    A utilização de estudos de caso e a abordagem de Questões Sociocientíficas (QSCs) no Ensino de Ecologia são de fundamental importância para a promoção de uma efetiva educação científica. O objetivo deste trabalho foi analisar as potencialidades do uso de um estudo de caso na abordagem de uma Questão Sociocientífica no processo de ensino e aprendizagem de Ecologia, em uma turma de 6º ano do ensino fundamental da rede municipal de Lagarto, SE. O caso abordado tratou sobre a utilização de agrotóxicos, de modo que os estudantes, da turma onde a atividade foi desenvolvida, puderam expressar seus conhecimentos prévios e suas interpretações acerca da narração, além de identificar as principais consequências do uso de produtos químicos na lavoura e as possíveis soluções para a problemática. De forma geral, os discentes demonstraram interesse pelo assunto e relataram acontecimentos do seu cotidiano, visto que a maioria reside na zona rural. Ademais, observou-se que a utilização de estudos de casos também pode auxiliar na formação de cidadãos críticos e reflexivos, capazes de tomar decisões conscientes, sejam elas de cunho pessoal ou coletivo
