    Diversos factores externos e internos moldean y condicionan el campo literario: la educación, el mercado del libro, el estado-nación, los movimientos políticos, las organizaciones internacionales (como la UNESCO) y autoridades concretas, como los premios. Aquí se examinan estos factores en diferentes escalas espaciales —“internacional”, “transnacional”, “global”, “mundial”, “cosmopolita”— que se definen en la primera parte del artículo con el objeto de identificar los agentes que participan en la formación y funcionamiento del campo literario en estos distintos niveles y así permitirnos comprender mejor los mecanismos de cambio de escala. A continuación, se analizan tres períodos: la época del “inter-nacionalismo”, que va de fines del siglo XIX a la Segunda Guerra Mundial, la época de la política “desarrollista”, cuando las fronteras del campo literario transnacional se ampliaron más allá del mundo occidental, y la época de la “globalización”.

    Various external and internal factors shape and condition the literary field: education, the book market, the nation state, political movements, international organizations (like UNESCO), and specific authorities such as prizes. These factors are examined in this article at different spatial scales: “international,” “transnational,” “global,” “world,” “cosmopolitan,” which are defined in the first section of the article in order to identify the agents that participate in the formation and functioning of the literary field at these different levels, and thus enable us to better understand the mechanisms of scale-shifting. Three periods are then examined: the era of “inter-nationalism,” running from the end of the nineteenth century to the Second World War, the period of “developmental” policy, during which the borders of the transnational literary field were extended beyond the Western world, and the era of “globalization.”
