    Este trabajo ofrece una interpretación de conjunto sobre el papel que jugaron los bombardeos aéreos de ciudades abiertas en la estrategia diplomática que la República desplegó sobre Francia y Gran Bretaña a lo largo de 1938. Se adentra en aspectos muy poco conocidos que rodearon la creación de la comisión de investigación sobre bombardeos aéreos entre junio y agosto, y en la presión sobre la Sociedad de Naciones en las postrimerías del conflicto. Un ejemplo más de la importancia decisiva que la internacionalización de la guerra civil tuvo en su resultado final y de la soledad a la que se vio reducida la República. Las fuentes utilizadas han sido fundamentalmente diplomáticas.

    This paper offers a global interpretation of the role that aerial bombardments of open cities played in the diplomatic strategy that the Spanish Republic deployed in France and United Kingdom in 1938. It studies some little-known aspects about the creation of the Commission for the investigation of air bombardments in June and August of that year, and the pressure exerted on the League of Nations in the aftermath of the Spanish Civil War. This episode shows that the outcome of the Spanish conflict depended on its internationalization and proves the effects of the isolation of Spanish Republic. The sources used to elaborate this paper are mainly diplomatic.
