The Girl-Bird and the Dancing Bird: archetypal echoes in a Friulan tale and an Australian Aboriginal Dreaming storyThe essay analyses two traditional short-stories, The Girl-Bird and the Tree with Golden Apples, told in Friuli, and Bralgah, the dancing bird, an Australian aboriginal women’s story, which oresent many analogies on the thematic-archetypal level. They both tell about two young (unmarried) women who undergo a metamorphosis in bird, presenting an important initiation motive to the feminine spiritual principle.
