Resumen de Els blocs de tsunamis de les costes rocoses de les Illes Balears

The presence of boulders of large dimensions at the rocky costs of the Balearic Islands is related to the effects of the tsunamis that affect the Balearic Islands from North Africa. Many boulders located on the southern rocky coasts of the Balearic Islands, with specific geomorphological characteristics, correspond to tsunami diposits, although the wide sampling made in the Balearic Islands allows for the simultaneous study of storm and tsunami phenomena. The results show areas located on vertical cliffs, with the presence of large imbricated boulders with ridge morphologies where storm surges do not reach, configuring themselves as eminently tsunamitic areas, and where dominant directions indicate north Africa.

La presència de blocs de grans dimensions a les costes rocoses de les Illes Balears es relaciona amb els efectes dels tsunamis que des del Nord d’Àfrica afecten a les Balears. Molts dels blocs ubicats sobre les costes rocoses meridionals de les Balears, i amb unes característiques geomorfològiques concretes, corresponen a dipòsits de tsunami, tot i que l’ample mostreig realitzat a Balears permet l’estudi simultani de fenòmens de tempesta i de tsunami. Els resultats ens mostren àrees ubicades sobre penya-segats verticals amb presència de grans blocs imbricats i amb morfologies de cordons on no hi arriben els onatges de tempesta, configurant-se com a àrees eminentment tsunamítiques i on les orientacions dominants indiquen el N d’Àfrica.
