  • Resumen
    • In Venezuela, it has not been produced many Anatomopathologic papers about Chagas¿ disease compared with epidemiologic studies and research about T cruzi biology and its vectors. Due to the influence of foreign pathologist¿s criteria, the Chagasic etiology of chronic myocarditis was not accepted until 27 years later after first Chagas¿ case in 1935, studied by José Francisco Torrealba. The contribution of the pathologist in this study was to determine the frequency of Chagas¿ disease in autopsies and to define the Anatomopathologic features of the heart with Chagasic myocarditis. Besides, their participation in experimental works has been important in order to demonstrate the myocardium injury in the miocític compartment as well as in the interstitial compartment. The Venezuelans pathologists have contributed in a very important way to establish the pathologic and clinical development of Chagas¿ disease in our Country.
