En esta comunicación se pretende explicar cómo la mentalidad colectiva de los españoles estaba influida por las corrientes reformistas de la iglesia católica española, impulsadas por Cisneros, y fueron muy receptivas a las ideas de los humanistas Erasmo y Moro; dentro de esa mentalidad colectiva, que compartía Cortés, y se señala la importancia que tuvo el recibimiento que hizo a los franciscanos que le enviaba el Emperador para iniciar la evangelización sistemática de las Indias

This communication aims to explain how the collective mentality of the Spaniards was influencedy the reformist currents of the Spanish Catholic Church, promoted by Cisneros, and were very receptive to the ideas of the humanists Erasmus and Moro; within that collec- tive mentality, which Cortés shared, and the importance of the reception he gave to the Franciscans sent by the Emperor to begin the systematic evangelization of the Indies is pointed out
