    Los antecedentes eran palpables. La meteorología imponía su ley: en demasiados inviernos y muchos veranos, fuera por los hielos o por el exceso de calor y la falta de aguas, no era posible moler los granos para su panificación. Era imprescindible, a todas luces, dotar a la ciudad con un molino propulsado no por el agua de los ríos sino por el viento. Tal circunstancia suponía idear la construcción de un inmueble adecuado y recabar una financiación municipal significativa. Estas páginas analizan cómo desde el ímpetu inicial se pasó, en pocos años, a un lamentable proceso de degradación, y la posterior demolición, de un edificio que les iba a liberar, supuestamente, de casi todas las ataduras del tiempo.

    The predecessors were palpable. Meteorology imposed its law: for too many winters and summers, whether it was because of the ice or the excess of heat and the lack of water, it was not possible to grind the grains for baking. It was clearly essential to provide the city with a mill powered not by the water of the rivers but by wind. This meant designing the construction of a suitable property and obtaining significant municipal financing. These pages analyze how the initial momentum progressed, in a matter of years, into de unfortunate degradation process, and  subsequent demolition, of a building that was supposed to free them of most of the challenges of the time.
