El artículo pretende aportar luz a las probables fuentes que André Schott consultó para atribuir el Lazarillo a Diego Hurtado de Mendoza. Al contextualizar el círculo intelectual y la vocación bibliófila de Hurtado de Mendoza, aflora una espléndida generación filológica, histórica y literaria. Por lo tanto, analizamos sus rela- ciones con Juan Verzosa, Juan Páez de Castro, Jerónimo Zurita, Antonio Agustín, etc. También, los contactos de amistad, investigación bibliográfica y trabajo intelectual que A. Schott mantuvo con J. Zurita, A. Agustín, Pedro Juan Núñez, Gaspar de Quiroga, Juan de Mariana y otros humanistas españoles contemporáneos.

The article pursues to shed light on the potential sources that André Schott consulted in order to attrib- ute El Lazarillo de Tormes to Diego Hurtado de Mendoza. Contextualising the intellectual circles and the vocation for books of Hurtado Mendoza, it comes up a magnificent philological, historical and literary generation. Therefore, his connections with Juan Verzosa, Juan Páez de Castro, Jerónimo Zurita, Antonio Agustín, etc. are analysed. The contacts of friendship, bibliographic research and intellectual work that Schott kept whith J. Zurita, A. Agustín, Pedro Juan Núñez, Gaspar de Quiroga, Juan de Mariana and other Spanish contemporary humanists are also analysed.
