Resumen de Historia de la ermita de los santos en el término de Villarrubia de los Ojos (Ciudad Real)

La ermita de los Santos Mártires Servando y Germano, en las fragosidades de las sierras de Villarrubia de los Ojos (Ciudad Real), tuvo una historia centenaria desde que se levantó en el siglo XVI hasta su desaparición en el último tercio del XX. Dueños y patronos de esta construcción religiosa y de su huerto anejo fueron, primeramente, los condes de Salinas y, después, los duques de Híjar, señores de Villarrubia. Ambas propiedades se vendieron en 1866 a un particular, el cual incorporó la ermita a una vivienda de recreo.
En este trabajo consideramos los principales aspectos del culto a los Santos Mártires titulares de dicha antigua ermita, así como todo lo que su huerto contenía. De manera especial nos detenemos en el cuadro retablo de la decapitación de san Servando y san Germano, único testimonio que hoy conservamos de aquel conjunto.

The hermitage of the martyrs Saint Servando and Saint Germano, in therough and unevenmountains of Villarrubia de los Ojos (Ciudad Real) had a history of centuries from the time it was built in the 16th century to its disappearance in the last third of the 20th century. The first owners and protectors of this religious construction and its adjoining garden, were the Counts of Salinas and after them the Dukes of Híjar, lords of Villarrubia.
Both properties were sold in 1866 to a private person, who when he built a country residence incorporated the hermitage to the building.
In this article we consider the main aspects of the religious worship to the Holey Saints, patrons of the old hermitage, as well as everything the garden contained. We pay special attention to the altarpiece which portrays the decapitations of Saint Servando and Saint Germano, the only remaining testimony of the original structure.
