  “Discurso de odio” es un sintagma compuesto. Incluye un componente expresivo en el sustantivo y uno afectivo en el introducido por la preposición del especificador. En el uso, el peso del segundo término viene realzado por la asociación con la expresión delitos o crímenes de odio. Hay también un condicionamiento semántico en sentido contrario: puesto que el discurso es por definición social, el odio designado debe circunscribirse a ese plano de la realidad, no es un odio interpersonal. El odio privado no es discurso. Por último, y en relación con el aspecto de la ilicitud, cabe separar entre el carácter social del discurso y el carácter que puede ser penal del odio. Esto para anticipar que la geografía conceptual dista de ser nítida. Haré una aproximación de baja definición en cuatro apartados y unas conclusiones: el discurso (el universo del lenguaje); el odio (el registro de las emociones); el discurso de odio; el odio como salario psicológico; y conclusiones.

  “Hate speech” is a compound syntagm. It includes an expressive component in the noun and an affective component in the one introduced by the specifier preposition. In usage, the weight of the second term is enhanced by the association with the expression hate crime. There is also a semantic conditioning in the opposite direction: since discourse is by definition social, the designated hatred must be confined to that level of reality, it is not interpersonal hatred. Private hatred is not discourse. Finally, and in relation to the aspect of unlawfulness, it is worth separating between the social character of speech and the character of hatred, which can be criminal. This is to anticipate that the conceptual geography is far from clear-cut. I will make a low definition approach in four sections and some conclusions: discourse (the universe of language); hate (the register of emotions); hate speech; hate as a psychological wage; and conclusions.
