    La Guerra Civil Española causó cuantiosos daños sobre el patrimonio cultural e intelectual, y de una manera especial en los fondos bibliográficos de facultades, como la de Filosofía y Letras de Madrid, donde tuvo lugar el frente de la Ciudad Universitaria de Madrid. Estos fueron destruidos y expoliados o a veces utilizados para la construcción de parapetos contra las balas. En la Facultad de Filosofía y Letras se juntaron dos importantes fondos, uno, procedente del Colegio Mayor de San Ildefonso; el otro de la Universidad de Alcalá, más los pertenecientes al propio fondo de la Facultad, manuscritos muchos de ellos, además de los incunables. Surgió entonces un movimiento dirigido a la salvaguarda de este patrimonio, bajo la dirección de la propia Universidad en algunas ocasiones, y en otras, protagonizado por acciones altruistas de personas particulares. Aquí tratamos sobre el corpus griego y latino que la Facultad albergaba, remarcando las obras que no aparecieron jamás, así como aquellas que en sucesivas etapas se lograron recuperar, cuyo último ejemplo puede ser el UCM 22, un manuscrito griego de principios del s. xvi copiado en Venecia y que fue utilizado por los editores de la Biblia Políglota Complutense

    The Spanish Civil war inflicted substantial harm to the cultural and intelectual heritage and especially to the bibliographical funds of the different faculties such as Philosophy and Letters in Madrid, where the Ciudad Universitaria front was located. These funds were destroyed, plundered and sometimes used to build shields against bullets. The Faculty of Philosophy and Letters gathered two important funds, one coming from the Colegio Mayor de San Ildefonso and the other one from the University of Alcalá, along with the Faculty’s own funds, the majority of them manuscripts and incunabula. As a consequence, a movement to salvage this heritage arose under the direction of either the university itself or promoted by altruistic and anonymous people. This study focuses on the Greek and Latin Corpus owned by the Faculty, highlighting the works that were never to appear again as well as the ones finally recovered through various attempts such as the UCM 22, a Greek manuscript from the beginning of the xvith century, copied in Venice and used by the editors of the Complutense Polyglot Bible.
