Resumen de Tomás Sánchez Reciente en la capilla de la Antigua de la catedral de Sevilla

En el presente trabajo recuperamos del olvido la participación del platero Tomás Sánchez Reciente en la total renovación de la capilla de Nuestra Señora de la Antigua de la catedral de Sevilla promovida entre 1734 y 1738 por el arzobispo Luis de Salcedo y Azcona. A pesar de que las crónicas de la época referían a su creatividad con grandes elogios, la historiografía posterior olvidó su importante actividad que como platero episcopal realizó en este recinto, cuya huella material aún podemos admirar en la baranda de plata, el relicario de la Santa Faz y en otras obras de platería pertenecientes a esta capilla principal del culto mariano de la ciudad.

In this study we recover the participation of silversmith Tomás Sánchez Reciente in the work baroque renovation of the chapel of Our Lady the Ancient in the Seville Cathedral, promoted between 1734 and 1738 by Archbishop Luis de Salcedo y Azcona. Despite the fact that the chronicles of the time referred to his creativity with great praise, later historiography forgot his important activity that he carried out as an Episcopal silversmith in this chapel. Among this works out stand out the silver railing, the reliquary of the Holy Face and another silver creations still preserved in the cathedral.
