La palabra glocalización fue inventada dentro del ámbito de la mercadotecnia en Japón en los años ochenta del siglo pasado y en el ámbito académico fue retomada por el sociólogo inglés Roland Robertson en los noventa. Hoy en día es un tema que requiere una reflexión indispensable. En esta ocasión se estudia un festival de arte contemporáneo: Echigo Tsumari Art Triennale, realizado en la zona llamada Echigo Tsumari Art Field en la prefectura de Nigata, en Japón, desde el 2000. Es un evento local que tiene un efecto global, ya que introduce la actividad artística para enfrentar al otro, de modo que muestra una visión glocal.

The word Glocalization was invented within the scope of marketing in Japan in the 1980s. And in the academic field, it was taken up by the English sociologist Roland Robertoson in the 1990s.
