Astronomía en Lituania: el segundo observatorio

    Completamos con este trabajo la “Historia Cronológica de la Astronomía en Lituania” que presentamos en Mol 12 (Klimka et al. 2013). En esta ocasión nos referiremos al segundo observatorio moderno y profesional establecido en Lituania. Se trata del observatorio que la Universidad Stephan Batory fundó en Vilnius durante la anexión de ésta a Polonia en el primer cuarto del siglo XX. El germen de este observatorio, que todavía perdura hasta nues- tros días, se encuentra en el año 1919, cuando el astrónomo polaco Władysław Dziewulski (1878-1962) se hizo cargo de la tarea de organizar el Departamento de Astronomía de la mencionada Universidad

    With this work we complete the “Chronological History of Astronomy in Lithuania” publis- hed in Mol 12 (Klimka et al. 2013). This time we will refer to the second modern and profes- sional observatory established in Lithuania: the observatory that Stephan Batory University founded in Vilnius during the annexation to Poland in the first quarter of the 20th century. The origin of this observatory, which still persists to this day, is in 1919, when the Polish astrono- mer Władysław Dziewulski (1878-1962) organized the Department of Astronomy of the afore- mentioned University
