Resumen de O património industrial integrado dos museus mineiros. O Motor Carels Diesel das Minas do Lousal, Grândola (Portugal)

On July 3, 2016, one of the most emblematic machines in the Lousal Mines Power Plant - the 300 HP Type 3 E Carels Diesel engine - started up again. The dynamic restoration was supported by the EDP Foundation and Frédéric Velge Foundation. It involved the study of the machine and its place in the Mining Museum, as an integrated industrial and technical heritage. Its conservation allowed the renovation of the museology of Lousal Museum and introduces the dynamic component, in a static exhibition that existed since 2001. This communication intends to show the new cycle of the Carels Diesel engine considering its history, its place in the technical chain, the architectural changes that it imposed in the building of the Machines House and the new role of the machinist in the electric power station organization. In 1940 there was a moment of renewal of the Lousal Mine under the aegis of the Belgian company Mines et Industries. It reveals the identity of the Carels Diesel Engine, which can now be seen in operation, as well as the technical “biography” of the machine.

Em 3 de Julho de 2016, uma das máquinas mais emblemáticas da Central Eléctrica das Minas do Lousal - o motor Carels Diesel, Tipo 3 E, de 300 cv – começou de novo a funcionar. O restauro teve a colaboração da Fundação EDP e da Fundação Frédéric Velge. Implicou o estudo da máquina e do seu lugar no Museu Mineiro, enquanto património industrial e técnico integrado. A conservação do motor permitiu a renovação da museologia do Museu do Lousal e introduziu a componente dinâmica numa exposição de cariz estático. Nesta comunicação pretende-se mostrar o novo ciclo do motor Carels Diesel considerando a sua história, o seu lugar na cadeia técnica, as transformações arquitectónicas que impôs no edifício da Casa das Máquinas e ao novo papel do maquinista na orgânica da Central Eléctrica. No ano de 1940 vivia-se um momento de renovação das Minas do Lousal, sob a égide da empresa belga Mines et Industries. Desvenda-se a identidade do Motor Carels Diesel, que hoje se pode ver em funcionamento, assim como a “biografia” técnica da máquina.
