    Este artículo de investigación aborda el papel jugado por la diplomacia cubana posterior al triunfo revolucionario en 1959, en lo concerniente a una de las más complejas e importantes negociaciones diplomáticas de ese periodo: la renovación del Modus Vivendi Comercial y de Pagos Hispano-Cubano entre 1965 y 1966, transacción que se efectuó con la España franquista. Para la presente investigación se tuvo en cuenta el contexto diplomático de la Cuba revolucionaria y de la nación ibérica en aquellas circunstancias, además se ponderó el rol que jugó Raúl Roa Kourí al dirigir esa transacción. Se pesquisaron las memorias anuales de la cancillería cubana entre 1959 y 1966, además de documentos relacionados con los testimonios ofrecidos por algunos diplomáticos cubanos involucrados en la relación bilateral entre ambos países. Este acuerdo fue uno de los más importantes logrados por la diplomacia cubana a pesar del bloqueo económico de los Estados Unidos, que mostraría una política pragmática, tanto de la Revolución Cubana como de las autoridades franquistas.

    This research article addresses the role played by the Cuban diplomacy following the Revolution of 1959, regarding one of the most complex and important diplomatic negotiations in that period: the renovation of the Spanish-Cuban commercial Modus Vivendi between 1965 and 1966, transaction that was made with Franco’s regime. The present investigation considers the diplomatic context of the revolutionary Cuba and of the Iberian nation in those circumstances, as well as the role played by Roa Kourí when directing that transaction. It´s founded on the annual memoirs of the Cuban chancellery between 1959 and 1966, besides documents related with the testimonies offered by some Cuban diplomats involved in the bilateral relationship. This agreement was one of the most important ones achieved by the Cuban diplomacy in spite of the economic blockade of the United States, showing a pragmatic approach from the Cuban Revolution and the Spanish authorities.
