Resumen de Consideraciones sobre el orientalismo en la fotografía andaluza del siglo XIX

El presente artículo reflexiona en torno a la fotografía del siglo XIX en Andalucía y su relación con el orientalismo. A partir de las imágenes de los fotógrafos la gran mayoría viajeros europeos, unos pocos fotógrafos europeos establecidos en España y solo algún fotógrafo andaluz se establece un diálogo con el fenómeno del orientalismo considerando la región andaluza como un oriente cercano a Europa y más accesible al viajero. En consecuencia, se dieron muchas de las características propias de la fotografía orientalista desarrollada en Oriente Próximo, pues se manifestaba una visión antropológica seducida por el exotismo que combinaba el interés histórico y documental con el estereotipo. El resultado era una imagen que privilegiaba los monumentos y ruinas del pasado musulmán junto a un retrato folclórico del gitano, el músico y la bailaora

This article reflects on 19th century photography in Andalusia and its relationship with Orientalism. From the images of the photographers the vast majority European travelers, a few European photographers established in Spain and only some Andalusian photographer, a dialogue is established with the phenomenon of Orientalism, considering the Andalusian region as an East near Europe and more accessible to the travelers. Consequently, there were many of the characteristics of orientalist photography developed in the Middle East, as it manifested an anthropological vision seduced by exoticism that combined historical and documentary interest with the stereotype. The result was an image that privileged the monuments and ruins of the Muslim past along with a folkloric portrait of the gypsy, the musician and the bailaora
