  La onda corta pertenece al grupo de las corrientes de alta frecuencia, también llamado diatermia. Se puede aplicar por el método capacitativo o inductivo y de ello depende el tipo de electrodo necesario y su colocación en la zona a tratar. El efecto principal si se emplea de forma continua, es el térmico, mientras que con el modo pulsátil se obtienen otros efectos no térmicos, relevantes a la hora de indicar su tratamiento. La intensidad a la que se aplica va a depender de la sensación térmica que tenga el paciente, en el caso de onda corta continua, y de la cronicidad del proceso a tratar. Por otro lado, es importante colocar correctamente el aparato en la sala por posibles interferencias con otros equipos.

  The short wave belongs to the group of high frequency currents, also called diathermy. It can be applied by the capacitive or inductive method and the type of electrode required and its placement in the area to be treated depends on it. The main effect, if used continuously, is thermal, while with the pulsatile mode other non-thermal effects are obtained, relevant when indicating its treatment. The intensity at which it is applied will depend on the thermal sensation that the patient has, in the case of continuous short wave, and the chronicity of the process to be treated. On the other hand, it is important to correctly place the device in the room due to possible interference with other equipment.
