  La diabetes tipo I o insulinodependiente se caracteriza por su inicio agudo o subagudo, generalmente en personas menores de 20 años, siendo la más común la de origen autoinmune.

  La educación sanitaria es de máxima importancia para ayudar al paciente a manejar su enfermedad y saber identificar las posibles complicaciones en el mínimo tiempo posible.

  La adherencia al tratamiento es fundamental para lograr un buen control glucémico.
