Resumen de Erosión, reforma y viabilidad de la Monarquía

La imagen del anterior titular de la Corona y su proyección sobre la propia de la Monarquía como institución han sido y son causa de preocupación social y política en España desde algunos años antes de la abdicación de su titular, Juan Carlos I, en junio de 2014. Tal inquietud ha obedecido —y continúa obedeciendo— a intermitentes revelaciones informativas sobre determinadas prácticas económico-financieras y fiscales irregulares que se le atribuyen a él o a su entorno inmediato, el familiar incluido, desde diferentes instancias judiciales. Una reforma de las funciones de la monarquía mediante un Estatuto que racionalice sus atribuciones e impida la transgresión de sus prerrogativas puede ser un punto de partida ejemplarizante que precisaría, sin embargo, de una mayoría parlamentaria.

The image of the previous holder of the Crown and its projection on the image of the Monarchy as an institution have been and are a cause of social and political concern in Spain since some years before the abdication of its holder, Juan Carlos I, in June 2014. Such concern has obeyed — and continues to obey — to intermittent informative revelations about certain irregular economic-financial and fiscal practices attributed to him or to his immediate environment, family included, from different judicial instances. A reform of the functions of the monarchy by means of a Statute that rationalizes its attributions and prevents the transgression of its prerogatives could be an exemplary starting point that would require, however, a parliamentary majority.
