Actualización en criterios para el diagnóstico de la diabetes mellitus

    Se realizó una revisión bibliográfica actualizada empleando los recursos disponibles en Infomed específicamente Ebsco, The Cochrane Librery, PubMed y Hinari, a través de los cuales se accedieron a las bases de datos: MEDLINE, Academic Search Premier, MedicLatina y Scopus. En total se revisaron 51 referencias bibliográficas, 94,1% de los últimos 5 años con el objetivo de describir los nuevos criterios para el diagnóstico de la diabetes mellitus según literatura científica actualizada además se abordaron los conceptos y las clasificaciones dadas por la Asociación Americana de Diabetes y el Comité de Expertos para la Clasificación y Diagnóstico de la Diabetes en 2013. Se utilizaron métodos de investigación cualitativa como el de análisis y síntesis y el histórico lógico para describir la evolución de los distintos métodos de diagnóstico y establecer criterios propios sobre el estado de la temática en la literatura científica a nivel mundial. Se concluyó que sobre el diagnóstico de la diabetes existe amplia literatura científica y se resalta en todas que la combinación de genes de susceptibilidad genética de la enfermedad, los autoanticuerpos y el uso de pruebas metabólicas muestran una elevada eficacia en la predicción de esta.

    An updated bibliographic review was carried out using the resources available in Infomed specifically Ebsco, The Cochrane Librery, PubMed and Hinari, through which the following databases were accessed: MEDLINE, Academic Search Premier, MedicLatina and Scopus. A total of 51 bibliographic references were reviewed, 94.1% from the last 5 years with the aim of describing the new criteria for the diagnosis of diabetes mellitus according to updated scientific literature, in addition to addressing the concepts and classifications given by the American Association of Diabetes and the Expert Committee for the Classification and Diagnosis of Diabetes in 2013. Qualitative research methods such as analysis and synthesis and logical history were used to describe the evolution of the different diagnostic methods and establish their own criteria on the status of the subject in the scientific literature worldwide. It was concluded that there is ample scientific literature on the diagnosis of diabetes, and all of them emphasize that the combination of genes for genetic susceptibility to the disease, autoantibodies, and the use of metabolic tests show high efficacy in predicting it.
