O “lamarckismo” de Freud e a polarização das interpretações

    Freud's “Lamarckism” is frequently pointed out. In the few times in which the investigation of this subject was undertaken with some historiographical rigor, the results were the denouncement of the pseudoscientific character of psychoanalysis or the defense of the peripheral, late and, therefore, dispensable place of such “Lamarckism”. These positions need to be nuanced. This article intends to accomplish this task, seeking to undo the anachronisms of the term “Lamarckism” and to examine the influential accounts of Ernest Jones, Frank Sulloway and Lucille Ritvo of Freud's “Lamarckism”.

    Frequentemente se aponta o “lamarckismo” de Freud. Nas poucas vezes em que foi empreendida com algum rigor historiográfico, a investigação desse traço se prestou ora a denunciar o caráter pseudocientífico da psicanálise, ora a defender o lugar periférico, tardio e, por conseguinte, dispensável de tal “lamarckismo” na obra freudiana. Essas posições devem ser matizadas. Este artigo pretende realizar essa tarefa procurando desfazer os anacronismos que o termo “lamarckismo” abriga e remontar às influentes visões de Ernest Jones, Frank Sulloway e Lucille Ritvo sobre a questão.
