• Resumen

  • In the hundredth anniversary of Manual de pronunciación española of Navarro Tomás, we highlight the huge contribution that this work, as well as the one published in 1926 in collaboration with Espinosa A Primer of Spanish Pronunciation, supposed for the teaching of Spanish as a foreign language. This study is located in the historical moment in which, with the help of Sweet and Passy, the methodology of language teaching changes, giving to the pronunciation the deserved relevance, whose teaching needs phonetic descriptions. Navarro Tomás joins this task with what he considers "un tratado práctico de pronunciación". We highlight the specific contributions of Navarro Tomás to the teaching of Spanish pronunciation to foreigners.
