Resumen de Detección automática de depresiones utilizando el modelo digital del terreno y su aplicación a la cartografía geomorfológica

Juan José Durán Valsero, Eulogio Pardo Igúzquiza, P. A. Robledo

  • Digital terrain models (DTMs) are especially suitable for numerical terrain analysis in earth sciences and engineering. One of the main uses of DTMs has been the automatic delineation of flow networks where depressions (pits) have been considered a problem for algorithms. However there are geomorphological environments where depressions are of interest per se. Such is the case of karst terrains were depressions appear at all scales, from metres to kilometres: dolines, uvalas and poljes. This work deals with the problems inherent in the detection of karst depressions and has been applied to the Sierra de las Nieves (Málaga), a mountain massif where karst depressions have a relevant role in the complex hydrogeology of the karst aquifer.
