  • We analyze the suitability of public geographical data, LiDAR topographical data and bathymetry from nautical charts, for geomorphological research. Digital elevation models (DEM) of fluvial valleys and the continental shelf are constructed digitalizing and extrapolating topographical data using Geographical Information System (GIS) software. The analysis of DEMs using different algorithms leads the calculation of geomorphological data in relation to different relief parameters (slope, curvature, etc.) and geomorphological features (fluvial terraces, wave-cut platforms, etc.). The results obtained in the experimental areas indicate that the public LiDAR data and nautical charts are suitable for geomorphological studies. Nevertheless, the accuracy and the representation of the different information used must be carefully considered
