D. Miguel e os jesuítas: fidelidade mútua às antigas tradições 1829-1834

    This article aims to provide answers to some questions related to the second entry of the Society of Jesus in Portugal, specifically the external and internal context that gave rise to it, the purposes it served, and the reasons that determined the second expulsion.The author based her analysis on unpublished and secondary historical documentary sources, highlighting among the primary sources a repository of documents from the documentary collection of the Archive of the Portuguese Province of Society of Jesus.A chronological-evolutionary methodology was followed in the reconstruction of the historical period under analysis, following the studies of relevant historians regarding the miguelist political and religious history.As a representative of traditionalism and conservatism, the Society of Jesus constitutes itself as a fundamental instrument in the affirmation of the miguelist ideals and reinforcement of its cause, but Jesuits and miguelists had the destiny of their presence traced before the ideals of liberalism.

    Este artigo tem como objetivo procurar responder a questões relativas à segunda entrada da Companhia de Jesus em Portugal, concretamente o contexto externo e interno que lhe deu origem, os propósitos que serviu e as razões que determinaram a segunda expulsão.A autora baseou a sua análise em fontes históricas documentais inéditas e secundárias, destacando-se entre as fontes primárias um repositório de documentos do espólio documental do Arquivo da Província Portuguesa da Companhia de Jesus.Foi seguida uma metodologia cronológico-evolutiva na reconstrução do período histórico em análise, seguindo os estudos de historiadores de relevo para a história política e religiosa miguelista.Como representante do tradicionalismo e conservadorismo, a Companhia de Jesus constitui-se como um instrumento fundamental na afirmação dos ideais miguelistas e reforço da sua causa, mas jesuítas e miguelistas tinham o destino da sua presença traçado perante os ideais do liberalismo.
