La revalorización de José de San Martín en Buenos Aires 1862 – 1880: Un recorrido a través del arte visual

    Este trabajo aborda la revalorización que se hace en Buenos Aires de la figura de José de San Martin durante el período 1862 – 1880, en el marco de la construcción de las bases identitarias de la nación argentina. Para ello, se realiza una diferenciación entre la percepción que guarda el gobierno en 1824 cuando San Martín parte al exilio y los homenajes póstumos del período antes mencionado. En este sentido se utilizan imágenes y monumentos propios de la época que aludan a la revalorización del "Gran Libertador". Despreciado por el gobierno de turno al momento de su partida, la imagen pública de San Martín cobra una dimensión diferente para el Estado nacional en un contexto donde se buscan próceres que formen parte de una base identitaria de la nación argentina. San Martín, forma parte de esta selección. En este sentido, el arte constituye uno de los recursos por antonomasia para reflejar la imagen de un prócer magnánimo y heroico acordes con el objetivo de construir las bases identitarias de la nación.

    This work addresses the revaluation that is made in Buenos Aires of the figure of José de San Martin during the period 1862 - 1880, within the framework of the construction of the identity bases of the Argentine nation. For this, a differentiation is made between the perception that the government keeps in 1824 when San Martín goes into exile and the posthumous tributes of the aforementioned period. In this sense, images and monuments typical of the time are used that allude to the revaluation of the "Great Liberator". Disdained by the current government at the time of his departure, the public image of San Martín takes on a different dimension for the national State in a context where it must look for heroes who are part of an identity base of the Argentine nation. San Martín, is part of this selection. In this way, art constitutes one of the resources par excellence to reflect the image of a magnanimous and heroic hero in accordance with the objective of building the identity bases of the nation.
