Resumen de Los Juegos Olímpicos: Su mensaje de solidaridad, paz y resiliencia. Discurso del presidente del Comité Olímpico Internacional en la ceremonia de apertura de Tokio 2020

El presente trabajo corresponde a la traducción en español del contenido del discurso pronunciado en Tokio el 23 de julio del 2021 por el presidente del Comité Olímpico Internacional (COI), Thomas Bach, durante la ceremonia de apertura de los Juegos Olímpicos, que corresponden a la 32 Olimpiada. El texto en español ha sido facilitado por el Centro de Estudios Olímpicos del COI en Lausana (Suiza). Con su permiso y con el apoyo que ha supuesto su traducción contribuyen y colaboran con la dirección de Citius, Altius, Fortius en su objetivo de acercar los mensajes olímpicos a la comunidad hispanohablante difundiéndolos en su lengua materna.
Tras saludar a los presentes Thomas Bach hizo una revisión y reconocimiento de los esfuerzos que ha supuesto la celebración de esta edición de los Juegos Olímpicos para toda la sociedad japonesa. Esfuerzos a los que se han añadido las consecuencias de la pandemia. Por ello, afirma que con su ejemplo la comunidad olímpica ha aprendido que la cohesión es la única manera posible de hacer frente a los grandes retos de nuestro tiempo: la solidaridad. La solidaridad es mucho más que respetar y no discriminar a los demás. La solidaridad es ayudarse mutuamente. Compartir. Esta solidaridad es lo que nos mueve en nuestra misión de crear un mundo mejor a través del deporte. La solidaridad refleja nuestros 3000 años de compromiso con la paz. Sin solidaridad, no hay paz.
Después de dar una especial bienvenida al Equipo Olímpico de Refugiados del COI resaltó el valor de los Juegos como un acontecimiento que une al mundo en toda su diversidad, remarcando que la unión hace la fuerza. Para ir más rápido, llegar más alto y ser más fuertes necesitamos mantenernos unidos en solidaridad. Por ello, terminó anunciando que el COI ha adaptado el lema olímpico a nuestros tiempos: Más rápido, más alto, más fuerte – Juntos.

This paper presents the translation into Spanish of the speech delivered by the president of the International Olympic Committee (IOC), Thomas Bach, in Tokyo on July 23, 2021. Such speech was issued during the opening ceremony of the Olympic Games, which were part of the 32nd Olympiad. The text in Spanish has been provided by the IOC Center for Olympic Studies in Lausanne (Switzerland). With their permission and with the support provided by their translation, they contribute and collaborate with the Management of Citius, Altius, Fortius. Particulary. In particular, they help promote the objective of spreading the Olympic messages within the Spanish-speaking community.
After greeting those present, Thomas Bach reviewed and recognised the efforts that hosting this edition of the Olympic Games had entailed for the entire Japanese society. Efforts to which the consequences of the pandemic were added. For this reason, he affirms that with their example the Olympic community has learned that cohesion is the only possible way to face the great challenges of our time: solidarity. Solidarity is much more than mutual respect and not discriminating against others. Solidarity is helping each other. Solidarity is sharing. This solidarity is what drives us in our mission to create a better world through sport. Solidarity reflects our 3,000 years of commitment to peace. Without solidarity, there is no peace.
After giving a special welcome to the IOC Refugee Olympic Team, he highlighted the value of the Games as an event that unites the world in all its diversity. He emphasized on the fact that unity is strength. To go faster, get higher and be stronger we need to stand together in solidarity. He ended by announcing that the IOC has adapted the Olympic motto to our times: Faster, higher, stronger - Together.
