La categoría estética de lo sublime, tal y como la sistematizó Edmund Burke, fascinó a los escritores y pensadores románticos. A lo largo de este artículo, es mi propósito explorar de qué manera Mary Shelley se sirve de la estética de lo sublime para «construir» la criatura. Mary Shelley¿s appeal to horror and terror as a means of referring to Victor¿s monstrous creation was certainly indicative of the nineteenth century¿s fascination with the philosopher Edmond Burke and his elaborate aesthetics of the sublime.
