Este artículo pretende determinar qué distingue al Panegírico a la paciencia de Sandoval Zapata dentro del contexto del neoestoicismo de finales del XVI e inicios del XVII. Como se verá, son dos sus notas distintivas: la insistencia en que sufrir es requisito indispensable para recibir la gracia divina, y la alegorización poética del mundo natural como una prueba de lo necesario del sufrimiento humano

n this paper I try to determine the distinguishable features of the Panegírico a la Paciencia by Sandoval Zapata within the neostoic context of late 16th Century and early 17th. As it will be shown, there are two main features: the emphasis on sorrow as an indispensable condition to receive the divine grace, and the poetical allegorization of natural world as a means to prove the necessity of human suffering
