Como si fuese hija de un letrado: la justicia en «La gitanilla»

    El presente trabajo realiza una lectura de La gitanilla a partir de los elementos referidos a la justicia. En primer lugar, la novela presenta el caso del teniente en Madrid, quien reivindica la honradez de su desempeño profesional ante la incredulidad de la protagonista. En segundo lugar, la acción se desplaza hacia el mundo gitano, cuya justicia se sitúa al margen de la sociedad, en una especie de ideal natural que, sin embargo, no está exento de brutalidad. Por último, bajo el final aparentemente feliz —el matrimonio entre don Juan y Preciosa— se pone de manifiesto la corrupción de la justicia, que permite la impunidad de un asesinato.

    This paper it carries out a lecture of La gitanilla from the elements referring to the justice. First at all, the work presents in Madrid the case of the «teniente », who vindicates the integrity of his professional performance in the face of the incredulity of the protagonist. Secondly, the action shifts to the gipsy world, whose justice is located on the fringes of society, in a sort of natural ideal which however is not without cruelty. Finally, under an apparently happy ending —the wedding between don Juan and Preciosa— the novel shows the corruption of the justice, which allows the impunity of a homicide
