    En este escrito se revisa la forma en que Tomás de Aquino cristianizó los fundamentos de la filosofía de Aristóteles, siguiendo las aproximaciones anteriores de Avicena y Alberto Magno para hacer compatible el universo aristotélico con el monoteísmo. La fórmula empleada por Tomás de Aquino fue la separación de la esencia y la existencia, como formas independientes del Ser, que le abrió el camino para introducir al Dios cristiano en el universo natural de Aristóteles, no como un agregado postizo, como había sucedido con anteriores intentos medievales, sino como un fundamento necesario y natural para todo el sistema aristotélico, de tal forma que éste no confrontase al dogma cristiano, y abriendo, de paso, el camino hacía la separación de la teología y la filosofía.

    This writing reviews the way in which Thomas Aquinas Christianized the foundations of Aristotle's philosophy, following the previous approaches of Avicenna and Albert the Great to make the Aristotelian universe compatible with monotheism. The formula used by Thomas Aquinas was the separation of essence and existence, as independent forms of Being, which opened the way for him to introduce the Christian God into Aristotle's natural universe, not as a artificial aggregate, as had happened with previous medieval attempts, but as a necessary and natural foundation for the entire Aristotelian system, in such a way that it did not confront the Christian dogma, and opening, incidentally, the way towards the separation of theology and philosophy.
