  • A contribution of the School of Salamanca to the philosophy and theory of law is the anthropological richness of some of its classical notions, e.g. ownership, use and dominion. This article reviews Martin de Ledesma’s definition of dominion. Ledesma, one of the first disciples of Francisco de Vitoria in Salamanca, has been credited with the use and collationes of de Vitoria’s texts in his book, a practice consistent with the scholastic notion of science and its transmission. The article shows Ledesma’s significant debt to Domingo de Soto, especially to his treatise De iustitia et iure.
